Description:
The colour and carving of this vase makes it look very like white jade (jadeite). Since ancient times Chinese people have prized jade as the most precious substance. Jade is extremely hard and was associated with health and long life, whilst its translucence was connected with qualities like wisdom and purity. The pair of this vase is N4687.

仿玉瓶一对 中国,清代,约1800-1900 无论颜色或雕饰,这只玻璃瓶都十足白玉翡翠般。玉质料极硬,寄意健康长寿,又引申为君子品格淳厚,博雅多闻。因此自古以来,中国人视玉为最珍贵的石材。 玻璃,浮雕 刻有「乾隆年制」四字,外围方框,疑为后人所加Creator: Unknown
