Snuff bottle with coral cap

Snuff bottle with coral cap

Description:

Chinese people who took snuff (mostly men) took it out of the bottle using a small spoon attached to the stopper. They put the snuff powder on the back of one of their long fingernails and snuffed it up their nose. Chinese gentlemen grew long nails to show that they did not use their hands in manual labour.
