Detail of Robert Thorne the elder (died 1519) from a 1930 painting entitled Some Who Made Bristol Famous by Ernest Board.Thorne was a m erchant, and was said to have supported the Cabot family. He was a slave trader in Seville, Spain and in the Caribbean.
