Description:

Part of printed instructions to convoy ships, for the better keeping Company with His Majestys Ship La Nymphe, John Ford Commander. Addressed to Joseph Winder, Master of the ship the Exeter. In time of war, merchant ships often travelled in convoy under the protection of a Royal Navy ship or an armed privateer.
