Page 8 (left) from the log book of the slave ship Black Prince. This page is a record of deaths on board ship and an illness called flux . Flux is now known as gastroenteritis , inflammation of the stomach and the intestine. It can cause vomitting and diarrohea. If left untreated, as was most likely on a slave ship, the sufferer can become very unwell.
