Mention in minute book of Ann Hancock (and her child) recently widowed by her husband who was killed whilst onboard the slave ship the Juba, from Bristol. The incident occured during a slave uprising. The widow is petitioning for money from the Society of Merchant Venturers.

The Society of Merchant Venturers is a Bristol-based organisation, which was formed in 1552 as an elite body of merchants involved in overseas trade. The Society still exists today.
