Description:
Archaeologists have found beads like this in many Chinese burial sites. These were probably made in China. Jewellery and other personal items were often placed with the bodies of the dead to accompany them in the afterlife.

The shape of this cup is similar to ceramic cups produced in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. Ceramic cups of this shape were used for drinking wine or for offerings of drink on altar tables.

Description:
This cup, with its animal mask handles, is similar in shape to ancient bronze vessels for holding food called gui. The opaque white glass is made to look like jade and the character on the side, shou, means long life.
The ridges down each side by the handles show that the cup was cast in a two-part mould. Scholars have suggested that cups like this, with a rough finish, were made for use in burials.

Description:
This cup was cast in a mould to make its design. Broken pieces of cold glass were placed into a three-dimensional mould and then heated in the furnace until the glass melted. The mould was then taken apart. This is similar to the casting process used for bronze in China since the Shang dynasty (about 1700 B.C. to 1050 B.C.). The character on the cup, shou , means longevity.
