Muster roll for the slave ship, the Sally which left Bristol in 1763, bound for Angola, in West Africa. 330 enslaved Africans were purchased and later sold when the ship finally arrived in South Carolina, USA. On it’s return to Bristol, the ship brought back a cargo of goods, part of which was a number of logs and blocks of mahogany.
The muster roll is a list of all crew signed on for all or part of a voyage, which was used to calculate the money each man should pay to the Sailors’ Hospital Fund (insurance).
