Coin from Portugal, during the reign of Alfonso V, 1438 – 1481. Found in Bristols floating harbour in 1911. Coins found in the mud show that Bristol was trading with Portugal.

Coin from Seville, Spain, from the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella, 1478 – 1504. Found in Bristol’s floating harbour. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella sponsored the voyage of the explorer Christopher Columbus. Coins found in the mud show Bristol was trading with Spain.
